  • Diaspora Dance & Arts Festival: A Huge Success

The Diaspora Dance & Arts Festival, an impactful initiative by U Dance Arts International (USA), delivered a memorable showcase at the Food Court of the Accra Mall.

This vibrant arts event brought together a diverse array of creatives, including painters, woodwork artists, singers, poets, textile designers, and choreographers, providing the audience with an unforgettable experience. Despite being free to attend, the festival offered performers a valuable platform to expand their fan base and reach.

Accra has witnessed a surge in festive events this Christmas season, drawing large crowds, and the Diaspora Dance and Arts Festival was no exception. The venue was packed with an enthusiastic audience of various demographics, all eager to immerse themselves in the activities.

The well-attended event, held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, was organized by U Dance Arts International, USA, Cediweb, and Afrowave Illusion, in collaboration with the Chris Attoh Foundation. Sponsors such as Azar Group, Samsung, and Indomie Ghana also contributed to the festival’s success.

One of the festival’s highlights was a live painting session featuring Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh, who collaborated with Joy Arts Gallery and Greg Caulley. Attoh’s stunning artwork was auctioned immediately after completion, fetching $230 from Jasmine Ekubah, one of the festival’s co-hosts. Proceeds from the auction will support the Chris Attoh Foundation’s “Hungry For The Needy” project.

Talented painters captured their creative visions on canvas as the audience admired their artistry. Singers and spoken-word performers added variety, enriching the event’s atmosphere.

Festival arts ambassador Sharon Dede Padi of Padiki Arts Gallery ensured the art exhibition aligned perfectly with the event’s goals. Renowned Ghanaian actress Adjoa Smart delighted attendees with her dance moves, joining Usher1Baby on stage for a fun performance.

Chris Attoh surprised guests with his impressive painting skills during the live session, as he and his fellow artists shared the inspirations behind their works. The audience marveled at the actor’s artistic talent.

In the late afternoon, choreographers took center stage, captivating the crowd with energetic performances. Over thirty individual choreographers and dance groups showcased their talents, flooding the Food Court with dynamic energy and enthusiasm.

The Diaspora Dance and Arts Festival will return on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. With its steady growth and success, next year’s edition promises to be even more spectacular.
