Dance Unplugged, a thoughtful event to celebrate the International Dance Day in Ghana, had some great displays from Ghanaian choreographers. The event is proudly put together by Dance Aloud Ghana with support from few other industrial giants.
The event, which took place on Tueday, April 29, 2025, at the Oxford Street Mall in Osu, a suburb of Accra, serves the major way of celebrating this special day in Ghana. Despite a huge scare of the rains, which took over most part of Accra few hours to the commencement of the event, the organizers and the entire Ghanaian Dance Industry must be proud of how this remarkable project turned out.
There were performances from the likes of African Breaking Academy, 4-Bent Dance Crew, Millitant Dance Family, House Dance Ghana, Solto Khalifa,Flames Dance Crew, Street Horoes, One Dance Family, among other spectacular dance performers. Believe 1 of Punchline Dance Studios was also on stage to energize the crowd, which turned out to be a freestyle battle amongst some of the choreographers.

One wonderful thing that transpired at the event was when the Dancing MC was invited on stage to educate the audience about branding, especially on social media. This is going to be a priceless gift for the young talents who are going to make good use of the information received. This year’s event, as usual, saw a number of major stakeholders showing their support, despite the rains, which translated the beautiful outcome; from upcoming choreographers, to establish ones, to legends of the game, among others.
Ashes, the organizer of this amazing event, also showed some appreciation to some stakeholders who have supported this dream for years. It included the likes of 4-Bent Dance Crew, Millitant Dance Family, House Dance Ghana, Team Hubes Dance Company, I Am Azonto, UDAI Studios, African Breaking Academy, Crown Ghana, Mr Robert Klarh and Punchline Dance.
The Legendary Adjei Sowah dance competition, organized for the young ladies at the event created a heightened level of excitement. This fished some creativity, spontaneity, and adaptability from these young choreographers. Out of nine amazing young female dancers that battled it out, El of Team Hubes came first, and Princess of Flames Dance Crew came second after a series of breakdowns of the number through eviction.

US-based Ghanaian choreographer and dance instructor, Usher1Baby, who was following the event on the livestream, had to call in to show his excitement of the great production despite the rains. He also congratulated all stakeholders of the event for their impacts on the success chalked.
April 29th is marked as the International Dance Day and is a special day for they stakeholders in the world of dance all over the globe. It was introduced in the year 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, the main partner of UNESCO’s performing arts. The day has, since then, seen a religious remembered till now.

Outstanding choreographers, over the years, put together a message for this occasion as it inspires the upcoming talents to invest in this prestigious talent path. Hopefully, the event, which was birthed in 2017, will see many more years with consistent growth as it provides opportunities for some many talents to realize their dreams.
